[JOB] Head of Mutual fund Sales
The Head of Mutual Fund Sales reports to Managing Director, Asia ex Japan, works within the Sales, Business Development and Client Services Department based in Seoul, Korea Office. The SCS function is responsible for the promotion, marketing and sale of the MNCs¡¯ Funds and the Group¡¯s investment management services/products. Managing client relationships, maintaining regular contact with existing clients and ensuring that each client¡¯s and prospective client¡¯s investment needs are understood, communicated internally and responded to effectively. To assist in the development of new investment products and techniques to improve the Group¡¯s overall performance and to accommodate clients¡¯ requirement

Head of Mutual Fund Sales

Managing Director, Asia ex Japan

[OVERALL PURPOSE OF ROLE]
You will be a senior MNCs Executive in Korea and represent the firm¡¯s business internally and externally, to function as an integral member of the Sales, Business Development & Client Service Department.
You are responsible for growing the Mutual Fund business in Korea, cultivating new distribution opportunities, maintain close relationship with a few key distributors to whom we are able to provide institutional-quality investment management service. Our focus will be on obtaining mandates to launch new funds, work with the distributors to raise and maintain assets, and also to raise and maintain additional assets to the existing family of funds. Working closely with the Managing Director, Asia ex Japan, you are to initiate product development projects that would be targeted for distribution in Korea. You are to identify and resolve client relationship, personnel and administrative problems as these occur.


[PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES[
- Sales & Business Development
Enhance, staff and lead the business development initiative in the area. The initiative should address:
To proactively develop relationships with distributors¡¯ gatekeepers to ensure that MNCs¡¯s overall business relationship with these distributors is secure.
To enhance MNCs¡¯s brand name in Korea by participating in various media exposure when and where needed.
Quantitative new asset and revenue growth objectives, measured both by value and time frame. This will be done on a bottom up basis, client by client. For each client the nature of the product that might be bought and the probability of the mandate to be awarded will be itemized. In establishing these sales targets you will need to take into consideration the cost of the sales and client service force, the positioning of MNCs¡¯s products in each particular area, the potential demand for MNCs¡¯s strong products, etc.
A prioritization of objectives and a clearly articulated plan for their achievement.
The geographic territory is vast, diverse and in differing stages of regulation and development. In order to avoid unnecessary duplication and the inefficient deployment of resource it is expected that the members of the Mutual Fund Sales Team will have defined client responsibilities.
Sales activities, company visits and entertainment need to be recorded in accordance with the firm¡¯s procedures.
The growth of MNCs¡¯s business in Korea is likely to be both planned and opportunistic and be by both traditional and non traditional approaches. You will be expected to play a key role in these approaches to business development.
Generate ideas for new products based on observation of developments in the marketplace and the perception of client requirements.

- Client Service
Enhance, staff and lead the client service initiative in the area. The initiative should address the ability to service and develop both existing and prospective client relationships. Specifically you are to:
Participate in weekly sales & marketing meetings as per the proforma.
Set quantitative targets to retain and develop existing and additional asset and revenue flows from the current client base. These will be in addition to qualitative objectives inherent in relationship management and client satisfaction.
Nurture within the Mutual Fund Sales Team a high level of knowledge of products, processes and portfolios.
Delegate client responsibilities within the team to ensure that individual team member has clear and defined ownership of the accounts so as to provide the required support to each of the account
Sales/client service personnel are expected to be able to adequately represent the investment process and current portfolio construction to clients. You will be expected to assume the lead role in distributor relationships in Korea.
Ensure that all administrative functions, e.g. maintenance of client files are carried out properly, completely and in accordance with the firm¡¯s procedures.
- General Management
You will be expected to organize and orchestrate business meetings which review the progress achieved and solve issues relating to MNCs¡¯s business in Korea. This will include the management and reporting requirements of the local executive.
Work with the Mutual Fund Sales Team to ensure that the business in Korea operates in an ethical and compliant manner and within the relevant regulatory frameworks. All general management, regulatory and corporate governance issues are to be reported in a timely and candid manner.
You will work with the Managing Director, Asia ex Japan, to have administrative oversight responsibilities for Mutual Fund Sales functions in Korea.
A personnel and travel/entertainment budget.
You will be responsible for managing the overall size of the Mutual Fund Sales Team, bearing in mind its cost and long-term revenue generating ability. An ability to ensure adequate productivity levels will be indispensable.
You will be expected to motivate and inspire the Mutual Fund Sales Team. To do this you will be required to lead by example and so will be expected to handle certain client relationships personally and work directly in the sales activity.
Keep abreast of Compliance regulations and requirements and ensure that they are followed.

[REQUIREMENTS]
Minimum - Bachelor Degree in finance discipline
The right candidate should have extensive knowledge in financial industry and investment products
At least 10 years experience in sales and business development in the asset management industry of which over 8 years in mutual fund sales business
A proven track record of success in building, developing mutual fund business in Korea
A well-established network of distribution contacts in Korea
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop strategic business relationships
Excellent public speaking and presentation skills
Strong analytical and strategic planning background
Strong organizing skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to work and make decisions independently
Ability to demonstrate credibility and support in the generation of new business through various deal sources, including securities companies, banks, insurance companies, etc.
Ability to take initiative and ownership of sales focused business development activities
Ability to encourage and facilitate co-operation, trust and group identity and foster a team spirit with relevant internal and external parties
When appropriate, manage, recruit and retain quality staff, together with a strong desire to provide coaching and to lead by example and a track record of successfully developing direct reports who have progressed in their subsequent careers
A proactive style to develop constructive relationships within own team and with people outside of the team or overseas offices
Ability to positively influence internal referral partners
Ability to assume responsibility in situations where there is no clear precedent
Given the nature of the responsibilities, the right candidate must be fluent in Korean and English
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent negotiation skills
A desire to succeed and take up new challenges
