Business Team Manager (Executive)
1. Introduction

This company collaborates with clients to help them become high-performance businesses and governments.

2. Job Account of BTM (Business Team Manager)
The IMT (Invention Management Team) is responsible for building relevant networks of inventors to contribute to the assembly of IP in targeted investment areas (IT, Life Sciences and Physical Sciences). Each IMT will consists of 4 members,
1) Business Team Manager, BTM (manager of the team)
2) Invention Development Manager, IDM
3) Investment Analyst(s)
4) Patent Development Manager.

3. Responsibilities
The BTM manages an inventor management team. Responsibilities include:
¡¤Day – day management of team members
¡¤Managing the team¡¯s P&L
¡¤Managing team members to meet short term and medium term objectives
¡¤Configuring the team¡¯s annual and up to dated business plans to meet top-down objectives given
¡¤Training team members to prospect, qualify inventors.
¡¤Training and overseeing team members to build inventor plans and ensure data is properly routed and maintained
¡¤Creation, analysis, and publication of regular management reports
¡¤Training and overseeing inventor growth – inventor management
Organizing team resources and having a comprehensive plan that positions the team to become the ¡°best in world¡± team in their broad technical area and its intersection with invention and IP (knowing all the major players in the area – the best inventors, the worst inventors, motivations of the inventors, institutional strength in the area, government and private sector R&D developments & budgets in the technical area, the key decision makers in government and corporate for R&D budgets, the major companies that make products in the technical area, plans for making products, the market and industries related to the technical area, demographics, etc.)

4. Candidate Background
Ideal candidates will have experience in managing small to medium sized teams in one¡¡ or more distribution channels around one¡¡ or more products. Candidate will have had P&L responsibility and have worked in companies where matrix reporting was required and in industries that are process intensive. Candidate should have a demonstrated track record of growing customers from a small to larger base that numbered from a few to as many as 100. Candidates should have worked in industries / products where the customer growth required both a high touch environment (for the most valuable customers) and a scalable marketing / sales program for other customers.
Several type of candidates may include, but not limited to: venture capitalist who has worked with start up companies and managed management teams in the past. Product development or sales channel managing representative – managed complex sales channels and customers.
S&T technical degree is not required. Strong business, customer growth, and small team management skills are required.
Fluency in written and spoken English is a requirement. Good communication skills – ability to create presentations, create simple financial cost models, write business plans and other management reports is also necessary.
To be considered for additional interviews (after the initial interview), candidates must supply us with a short form business plan as to how they would organize and build inventor relationships and meet the broad goals of their team. (this is an absolute requirement to help us understand their communication skills and thought process).
